Santiago Barragan is a Boston-based international guitarist/composer who has performed around the world. Barragan’s concert career has taken him from Europe to South America, to North America, and India. A native of Bogotá, Colombia, at the age of 18, he moved to France to study at the Conservatory of Nancy. In Nancy, Santiago was awarded his guitar diploma with an honorary mention, and then continued his studies at The Berklee College of Music. At Berklee, Santiago achieved summa cum laude in Guitar Performance and Jazz composition. Another important award was granted four years in a row from the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation. This award was sponsored by well-known artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Juan Luis Guerra, Miguel Bose, and Carlos Vives. Santiago Barragan has performed with renowned artists such as Noel Schajris, Rosa Passos, Nicole Zignago, Kurt Elling, Maro, Victor Wooten, Jesus Molina, Tigran Hamasyan, Danilo Perez, Kenny Werner and Domitille Degalle. Here in Boston, Santiago is an equity scholar at the Longy School of Music at Bard College in Cambridge.
